Austin's Best Scenic Viewpoints

City living is often fast-paced and lively. Among the hustle and bustle, sometimes it's nice to unwind and take a breathe while enjoying beautiful natural scenery. View Austin from a refreshing perspective, and check out these incredible viewpoints just a short ride away.

Mount Bonnell

Located at Covert Park, Mount Bonnell is a peak on the ridgeline overlooking the Colorado River and Lake Austin. The elevation of 785 feet above sea level gives visitors an amazing view of Austin. To get to the viewpoint, you must climb a long, steep staircase. It is worth the climb once you get to the top and see the views of the surrounding cityscape, lakeside houses, and country hills. Depending on when you go, you can catch the paddle wheel boat carrying boisterous tourists passing by. On a clear day, you can see an unobstructed view of the 360 Bridge in the distance. A picnic shelter and table are available if you wish to enjoy lunch up there as well.

Pennybacker Bridge (360 Bridge) Overlook

The Pennybacker Bridge viewpoint sits at the north side of the bridge, situated several hundred feet up rocky terrain. The view overlooks the bridge, golf course, Colorado River and the city. This is one viewpoint you can enjoy at all times of the day. Go during the afternoon for clear views of the city and lake, at sunset for a romantic or Zen ambiance, or at nighttime for stargazing. To get to the cliff, park at the off-road area before reaching the bridge. Climb the short semi-hidden trail and enjoy the views up top.

With just a short drive from Sur512 Apartments, take advantage of Austin's best views if you haven't already. Remember to dress appropriately and wear proper shoes for the hike up to these viewpoints, and don't forget the camera! Then just relax and soak it all in.
