Get Outside In Austin

Living in Austin means access to many valuable resources and one of those is the Parks and Recreation department. You can head out with some friends and spend a day enjoying the weather and scenery, get in a workout on one of the many trails, or grab a book and enjoy some quiet time. Or you can take advantage of one of the many programs offered to residents of our city.

Free Fitness in the Park is held Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 9:30 am through the end of July. All levels are welcome to meet in Rosewood Neighborhood Park to work on cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength using body weight, sand bags and resistance bands.

Music lovers can attend the Hillside Concert Series, running every Tuesday in July from 7 to 9 pm. Bring a blanket to sit on, some snacks, and head over to the Hillside to enjoy some of Austin's best local music.

Meet Her Hands is a fascinating summer series featuring the female artists of Austin, and their work. On Thursdays at 6:30 get to know a different female artist, experience her work, and learn more about what inspires her.

You can also enjoy movies in the park. Visit Dittmar Recreation Center for a showing of Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, or enjoy a summer themed movie with a showing of Zootopia at the Deep Eddy pool.
